⁍ NICE, France (Reuters) – Christian and French state sites were at risk of militant attacks following the killing of three people in a church, police said on Friday.


⁍ Thursday’s violence prompted the government to raise the security alert for all French territory to its highest level.


⁍ President Emmanuel Macron said more soldiers would be deployed to protect key sites such as places of worship and schools.


– “We are in a situation where the terrorist risk is more and more prevalent. Any symbol of the republic or Christianity is a potential target,” says the police chief of Nice, France, where three people were killed in a church attack Thursday. “We have to be vigilant, we have to be attentive.” President Emmanuel Macron has raised the security alert for all of French territory to the highest level, and more soldiers are being deployed to protect Christian and state sites, Reuters reports. The suspect in Thursday’s attack, a 21-year-old migrant from Tunisia, was shot and killed by police.
